Natural Terrain: Healing from Within, Leading with Compassion

At Natural Terrain, we believe that healing is personal. For co-founder Dr. Christina Bjorndal, ND that belief comes from lived experience.  She knows what it’s like to struggle—to feel lost in the depths of depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, searching for answers that never quite seem to fit. For years, she tried conventional treatments but found herself trapped in a cycle of medication that never addressed the deeper roots of her illness. It wasn’t until she discovered naturopathic medicine that she began to truly heal—learning how to care for her body, mind, and spirit in a way that made her feel whole again.

That journey inspired her to create Natural Terrain, a clinic where others facing similar battles can find support, guidance, and hope. Dr. Bjorndal, ND and her team offer holistic treatments like nutritional counseling, botanical medicine, acupuncture, and psychotherapy—not as quick fixes, but as ways to help people rebuild their health from the inside out. The goal isn’t just symptom management; it’s understanding and addressing what’s really going on beneath the surface.

Giving back is at the heart of everything we do. We work with local suppliers to ensure ethical sourcing of herbal medicines and supplements, keeping Canadian small businesses strong. In addition to supporting patients directly, Dr. Bjorndal, ND is dedicated to educating other naturopathic doctors on how to effectively support individuals struggling with mental health concerns. She offers specialized courses that provide practitioners with evidence-based tools to address anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder holistically. By equipping other clinicians with the knowledge and strategies she has developed through her own healing journey and through her years in practice, she is benefiting more in the community than would otherwise be possible.

One of the most powerful aspects of our work is mental health advocacy. Dr. Bjorndal, ND openly shares her story—not to dwell on the past, but to show others that healing is possible. Through community outreach, talks, and individual care, Natural Terrain has helped countless Canadians take control of their health and find a path forward. Some have gone on to become advocates themselves, using their journeys to uplift others.

Natural Terrain isn’t just a clinic—it’s a place where people find hope. It’s about real conversations, real healing, and real change. No one should feel alone in their struggles, and we’re here to remind people that help exists—and that brighter days are ahead.
